Gigiò

Our flagship wine. A complex, age-worthy blend of mostly Sangiovese with a small percentage of Colorino.

Gigiò our first-born was the start of our adventure. Produced from the oldest Sangiovese vines, it is a Sangiovese blend with a small percentage of Colorino. The wine is complex and elegant, with deep colors and lively fruits, persistent acidity and finish, guaranteeing it to be age-worthy.

About the label

Inspired by Giacometti

The name Gigiò is a nickname of Enzo’s childhood friend, Luigi. The skinny man that you see on the label is derived from a Giacometti drawing that Claire had before the couple met (not the original, of course!). From the time Claire and Enzo began daydreaming about starting a winery, they always thought this image would be the inspiration for a great label. Our first ever label, our Gigiò character was adapted to become more of a wine person, carrying a glass and a bottle of wine, as well as having a happy face. Our very first label, it was used for the only wine we made at the time (back in 2004). Now Gigiò is well-known amongst our customers as being our top, elegant, precious wine.

Tasting Notes

Dark ruby red, deep and bright. The nose offers a series of scents: dark fruit, violet and rose essence, with spice notes of black pepper and cinnamon, with hints of licorice and chocolate. To the palate the wine presents a full-bodied structure with silky and exuberant elegance, the tannins are elegant and soft, and the accompanying acidity guarantees its long ageing potential.
